Overview
Jay Dee Contractors is a leader in underground infrastructure, specializing in complex tunneling and heavy civil construction projects. While the company's reputation was well established, its brand no longer reflected the scale, expertise, and innovation behind its work. The opportunity extended far beyond a website redesign. It was about redefining how the company presented itself, clarifying its positioning, and creating a brand that could better connect with clients, partners, and future employees.
My role
As Art Director, I led the creative direction for a comprehensive brand refresh, working closely with strategists, copywriters, developers, and the client to establish a cohesive brand identity and digital experience. My role included brand strategy, visual identity, UX and UI design, creative direction, and ongoing campaign development.
Approach
We began by immersing ourselves in Jay Dee's business, competitive landscape, and long term vision. Through research and collaborative workshops, we identified opportunities to better communicate what set the company apart and developed a strategic foundation for the brand.
Together, we refined their brand positioning, established a clear brand archetype, and developed a stronger brand voice that reflected both their technical expertise and their forward thinking approach. This strategic work informed every creative decision that followed, giving the company a more authentic and consistent way to tell its story.
From there, I helped evolve the visual identity through a refreshed logo, expanded color palette, typography system, graphic elements, and photography direction that modernized the brand while honoring its legacy. I also led the design of a new website focused on storytelling, intuitive navigation, and showcasing the company's capabilities, project portfolio, and career opportunities.
The work continued beyond the launch. Since completing the rebrand, I have continued partnering with Jay Dee on ongoing digital marketing initiatives, creating campaign concepts, digital advertising, landing pages, social media content, and marketing collateral that strengthen brand consistency while supporting business growth, recruitment, and client engagement.
Outcome
The result was a modern, scalable brand system that better reflects Jay Dee's leadership in the infrastructure industry. By aligning their identity, messaging, and digital presence, we transformed how the company communicates with its audiences and created a flexible foundation that continues to support future campaigns and long term growth.
